Our FUNDS

 

BARBARA ZINBARG KIDDUSH FUND

This fund was established through an initial gift by Ed Zinbarg. It honors the memory of his beloved wife, Barbara, who loved Shabbat at Oheb Shalom - its aura of holiness, the beauty of its music, its unique way of bringing the community together. The purpose of the Fund is to encourage attendance at Shabbat morning services by providing a lovely kiddush luncheon, where congregants can add a socializing component to their spiritual enrichment.

BLUMENAU FUND FOR MICKEY FRIED PRESCHOOL

Provides funding for special programs and projects, repairs and capital expenditures of the Mickey Fried Preschool.

BOBROW KOSHER FOOD PANTRY

Helps to provide sustenance for members of the local community by donating funds for food purchase.

BUILDING SECURITY FUND

Provides funding to improve the security in and around the building.

CAMP RAMAH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This fund adds to a scholarship for Oheb Shalom youth to participate in a Camp Ramah summer camp experience.

CANTOR EDGAR & GERDA MILLS MUSIC FUND

Cantor Edgar Mills, founder of the Cantors Assembly of America, served as the Oheb Shalom Cantor from 1943 until 1978. This fund works to keep his love for music alive throughout the halls of Oheb Shalom.

CANTOR'S DISCRETIONARY FUND

This fund allows our Cantor to support special projects within Oheb Shalom and the broader community. Donations may not be made online. To  make a donation, call the office at (973) 762-7067.

CANTOR LIPPITZ'S ENDOWMENT FUND

Supports the directorship positions of youth and adult chorales, as well as the Cantorial position at Oheb Shalom.

DAVID SCHECHNER FUND

David Schechner, a fourth generation Oheb member, served as a Trustee and Past President. This fund works to perpetuate David’s lifelong commitment to Oheb Shalom by providing funding for furniture, fixtures and equipment to ensure that the beauty of the physical space continues to uplift that of our spiritual community.

GENERAL OPERATING FUND

Without generous outside support, Oheb Shalom would not exist. If you have ever joined us on Shabbat, attended a program or event, volunteered, studied with the Rabbi, or enjoyed music in our halls, our general operating fund has helped to make this happen.

GRUNT FUND FOR FAMILY EDUCATION

The Morris and Lillian Grunt Fund helps to support family programs throughout the year.

IN THE SPIRIT OF THANKSGIVING

Acknowledge milestone events of others within our community and beyond, even those celebrated within your family.

YAHRZEIT FUND

Honor the memory of a loved one with a donation to this fund.

JACOBS LIBRARY FUND

Established in 1911, the library provides an extensive collection of books, periodicals, reference works, DVDs, and an online catalog. Donations to the Fund help us keep our collection up-to-date.

JEWISH EDUCATION FUND FOR YOUTH

Contributions to this fund enable Jewish youth of high school age or younger to enhance their Jewish education.

MICKEY FRIED PRESCHOOL FUND

For many years, Mickey and Sylvia Fried were a dynamic force at Oheb Shalom. Participate in the continuation of this endowment by contributing to our award-winning preschool program in Mickey's and Sylvia's memory.

NADLER ISRAEL STUDIES FUND

The intent of the Jordan Nadler Israel Studies Fund is to instill a love of Israel through dynamic programming for children and families.

RABBI ALEXANDER M. SHAPIRO SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Rabbi Alexander M. Shapiro served as Rabbi of our congregation for twenty years. The scholarship fund continues his commitment to education through a variety of adult education classes.

RABBI'S DISCRETIONARY FUND

This fund allows our Rabbi to support special projects within Oheb Shalom and the broader community.

KRUGER RICHMAN FUND

This fund supports synagogue membership growth through creative and innovative religious school programming for school age children and their families.

SLUTZKY JEWISH PARENTING CENTER

Through speakers, forums and discussions, the Alyson and Richard Slutzky Jewish Parenting Fund seeks to create and foster a community of families who share concerns and experiences.

STREAMING FUND

Helps defray the cost of our AV technology equipment.

ZEMAN RELIGIOUS SCHOOL FUND

Rose and Isadore Zeman were active members of Oheb Shalom during their lifetimes, and this endowment allows their memories to live on through the children who are educated at the Zeman Religious School.
