Renewal Services at Oheb? Come Learn
Saturday, June 21, 2025 • 25 Sivan 5785
12:00 PM - 1:00 PMOn Sat, June 21, following a traditional Conservative service, Rabbi Treu and Cantor Kissner will lead an information session during the kiddush lunch* on the topic of liturgy, halakha, and what we as a Conservative congregation “have” to do during prayer services.
We'll discuss a new teshuvah (legal ruling) by the Conservative Movement’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards on the question, and use that as a springboard to ask the big questions that guide how we pray together at Oheb. Among them: how many prayers are required, and which ones? Is there a way to make services shorter and/or more meaningful to those who don’t appreciate a traditional liturgy?
Want to see what this new service will look like? Join us this Saturday morning, June 14 to get a taste of it -- and to celebrate Lili Sigalov, who will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah.
*Kiddush on June 21 is sponsored by Craig Gruber and Brenda Amarant, who are celebrating their auf ruf.
